Black bear in St.Paul Frog Town Neighborhood - Sunday, April 29, 2012

St. Paul Police say they were advised to shoot and kill a bear roaming in the Frogtown neighborhood.
 West district officers were dispatched to the area near Dale Street and Lafond Avenue around 12:30 a.m. Sunday morning after receiving a report about a black bear walking the streets.
 Police tracked the bear as it went up a tree in the area of 564 Charles Ave.

New walleye regulation at Mille Lacs Lake - Sunday, April 08, 2012

Anglers who fish Mille Lacs Lake during the 2012 season will be able to keep walleye less than 17 inches in length, according to the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources (DNR). This is a change from last year's regulation that allowed keeping of walleye less than 18 inches.

10 Ice Anglers Win Coveted Spot on 2013 USA Ice Team - Tuesday, March 13, 2012

USA Iceteam 2013The weekend of March 11th, 2012 well over two dozen of the world's best ice anglers gathered at the Big Eau Pleine Reservoir in Wausau, Wisconsin, to compete for a coveted spot on the USA Ice Team. In the end, 10 men emerged victorious. Those men will go on to represent the United States at the 2013 World Ice Fishing Championships. Here are a few more details:

MN wolf hunting season opening this fall - Tuesday, February 14, 2012

MN wolf huntingThe Minnesota Department of Natural Resources (DNR) is proposing an inaugural gray wolf hunting and trapping season this fall that calls for a conservative harvest quota of 400 animals.Wolf research indicates Minnesota’s wolf population could sustain a higher quota, but DNR officials say they are taking a measured approach to the state’s first season.The proposal sets a quota of 6,000 licenses that will be allocated through a lottery system. Only one license will be allowed per hunter or trapper. Hunting would be allowed with firearms, archery equipment and muzzleloaders. Calls and bait would be allowed with restrictions.
